While there are a few ways to cook bacon, I find that this method using a skillet is the most foolproof way to get bacon perfectly crispy every time.

How to Make Perfectly Crisp Bacon

There are a few things to keep in mind to cook up bacon perfectly every time.

Remove the bacon from the fridge 15 minutes prior to cooking to allow it to come to room temperature.

My brother-in-law recently bought me a rectangular pan which is perfect to cook bacon. It accommodates the length of the strips perfectly and is wide enough for several slices. What’s also nice about it, is that the edges slope downward, so all the grease collects around the perimeter. If you don’t have a pan that is long enough to accommodate the bacon, not to worry. You can simply cut the bacon slices in half to make sure that the slices lie completely flat on the bottom surface of the pan or they will not cook evenly.

Arrange the slices on a cast iron skillet so that they do not overlap.

Turn on the heat to medium – Not preheating the pan allows the fat in the bacon to render slowly yielding more consistent results.

Cook for 8 – 12 minutes to desired crispness, turning at least once in between.

Remove to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb the additional grease.

Serve immediately.
