Cut one bakery French baguette into 3/4-inch cubes.
Arrange in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Sprinkle with salt and freshly ground pepper or coarse ground black pepper. Sprinkle with shredded parmesan cheese. Dot with salted butter.
Using a toaster oven, toast until golden brown. About 4 minutes.
